To my SWA Ultimate friends who want to succeed, here's a Team Manny Viloria tip: Find your PASSION.
That's the theme that was repeated by the different speakers during this morning's Ateneo Career Exploration talk for high school students who are preparing for college...
So the question is: What are you PASSIONATE about?
Dr. Liane P. Alampay said that what we do defines who we are.
That may seem like the opposite of what we're used to, right? Usually, we know who we are first, and then we do things that match who we are.
That's why we sometimes ask our children what activities they enjoy doing, and then suggest what course to take up in college.
Though if you look at it more closely, it's what we do most often that defines who we are.
No wonder people who are introduced to one another at gatherings often ask:
So, what do you do?
Therefore, to find out what you're passionate about, you need to be doing something first.
Do a bunch of Somethings. Take Action. Keep On Doing Different Activities.
And then ask yourself if you truly enjoy what you're doing.
Let me tell you the story of Engr. Ric Ruiz...
He was always fascinated with cars and building objects that move. He wanted to become a famous engineer. So he took up Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines.
So, was Engineering his passion? Let's see...
In college, they'll throw all sorts of Math and Physics subjects at you. Especially if your course is Engineering.
Now there was one time when the young Ric Ruiz was struggling with his classmates over some weird equation courtesy of their Math professor.
Super tough. Hindi lang nosebleed... Nose Sabog!
Then, the Math teacher asked them to GRAPH the equation.
And the image that they saw was something like a horse saddle.
When Ric the college student saw the horse saddle, his reaction was a reverently whispered: "Wow."
So the question is this: Do you think Engr. Ric Ruiz was passionate about solving math problems and Engineering?
If his reaction was "Weno ngayon? / So what?" instead of an awed "Wow", would your answer change?
IMPORTANT TIP: To discover your true passion, do something first.
Your childhood dream might have been to become a doctor. And then when you grew older and tried dressing wounds, you discovered that you couldn't stand the smell of disinfectants.
So by doing the things that doctors do, you were able to find out for yourself if you truly had the passion for it. Or if you had to try other things in order to discover what you are TRULY passionate about.
To succeed with SWA Ultimate, one of the things you can employ is Online Marketing.
And here are the activities or things to do:
- Read SWA Ultimate Online Library Ebooks
- Get Online Marketing Training
- Write articles / Blog
- Promote those articles
Go ahead and do those activities. At least 3 times a week. Every week.
Then ask yourself if you are truly excited and happy when you read ebooks or learn new things with the help of the internet.
Ask yourself if you feel fully alive when you're writing and sharing useful or entertaining articles online.
Check your pulse and see how quickly it races when you plan an online marketing campaign.
Look at yourself in the mirror and see how bright your smile is because you're earning a semi-passive income on the internet.
Remember this: To Find Out What Your Passion Is, Do A Lot Of Somethings First.
And once you have confirmed what your true calling is, then GO FOR IT! 🙂
